Ever wish we didn't need to sleep? If our bodies didn't require sleep, our lives would feel 1/3 longer, and we would be able to do 1/3 more things in our lifetime. Somedays, a good long sleep leaves you feeling refreshed and renewed and ready to take on the day. Other times, like now for instance, I wish I didn't require sleep. I am having trouble getting myself to fall asleep and realizing the later it gets, the more daylight I am going to miss out on tomorrow when I finally do wake up. Would our lives be more fulfilling if the idea of sleep never existed? Would we overwork ourselves? Could we even become exhausted? Would we still take time to rest, even if our bodies didn't require it, would our minds still need it?
I happen to enjoy a goo nap from time to time when I've had a really stressful day or not received the amount of sleep I wanted the night previous but I also agree with the argument that if sleep were not necessary, we could certainly fit more activities into our lives. We could explore more places, meet new people, live a more fulfilling life than we already do, given the time. Then again, why not take that outlook and apply it to what we are dealt. Sleep is necessary, so deal with it and make the best of every waking hour you can. And relax and sleep when you need to sleep, and enjoy that sleep.
I dream almost every night. Sometimes dreams can give you insight to the world around you. Listen to what you hear and remember what you see in your dreams and apply them to your life. I don't think God would give you a vision in your sleep if he wasn't trying to send you important messages through them. He could be playing tricks on us and laughing up in heaven, however, I'd like to think that he would rather send us some guidance in order for us to live fulfilling lives for the 16 hours we are awake every day. Maybe that is His purpose for us sleeping. Maybe he wants to have a guaranteed time everyday with your subconscious to tell you things that you are too busy and too distracted to listen to during the day. That is what you call an epiphany, ladies and gentlemen. I have found the reason for sleep.
Dream on.
xoxo
